I'm refocusing and shifting myself over to a new blog:

I hope you will follow me there!
Love, Marriage, Baby Carriage
Learning to balance wifehood, motherhood, and workhood. All the while not quite feeling like an adult. Wha? I'm a Mom? Like my Mom is Mom?

A new chapter
She enters the blog, looking around with sheer amazement at the amount of dust and spider webs that have intertwined themselves into her little cyberspace sanctuary. Cleaning off the mirror, she forced herself to look, wondering how in the world time has gone by so quickly and by no means, did she mean just the time that has gone since she last entered.
Ok, so I thought I'd be a bit overly dramatic for my first blog in...well a long time. Excuses? Sure I have a few dozen but can all be summed up in one word: LIFE.
My last post was what? October? I'll give you a bit of recap:
November: Did not go to Kentucky this year. We're beyond stretching a dollar at this point. Still had a nice holiday with my family and then the next day at The Husband's family.
December: Interviews, Christmas, and Birthdays. The Girl is officially 3! Took a job working retail at Macy's to help with life.
January: Attempt to re-focus and re-energize. Even numbered years are my good years right? Got turned down for a job in which I was a final candidate. Decide to focus on different career paths.
February: Hello another year. 32. I iz old. Quit Macy's and The Husband shifted his hours. The Girl's last day at home daycare is this Friday. Our dog died. For not being a dog person, I'm still quite saddened by this.
So that's a nice little recap for you. My even numbered year theory hasn't worked this year. Damn. Finances are a constant struggle but we are taking matters into our hands. The Husband is now working nights and will take care of The Girl during the day so we can cut out daycare expenses which was nearly $10,000 last year (and that's cheap compared to most people). I really hope this works and helps us pay off some debt. I was given The Total Money Makeover and will try to follow this once we catch up on bills. Big focus: Paying off 2 credit cards (which we haven't used in like 2 years) and paying off 2 cars.
It will be hard for The Husband - he won't have much sleeping time but I think he and The Girl will do fantastic during the days. He really is such a hands on, involved father that after hearing about some friend's husbands - I can say that I'm very lucky. I started looking for affordable classes for them to take so The Girl will stay socialized. Found a cooking class!! She loves to help cook and The Husband was totally on board with it....I'm kinda jealous.
Husband/Wife time? Well there won't be a lot of it but as with everything, we will make it work. We are IM'ing each other at night and I call him when The Girl goes to bed so he can say goodnight to her. The weekends will be family time. The Husband is taking me on a weekend sometime in June/July at a location of my choice. It will be local but I'm really looking forward to it. We will need some alone time I'm sure by then. Even though we are struggling with the $$, I think it's important for us to put some money to the side so we can do something together.
The Girl? She's fantastic. Continues to grow - still remains at the 97% for height. Many people think she's at least 4 years old. Her speech has improved dramatically but I know it's still delayed. Now that's she's 3 we can have her evaluated by the school district but get this...there's like 150 kids in front of her for the eval. We should get a call sometime this summer.
Potty training has been the single most challenging thing I've encountered in being a mother. She was doing GREAT...just a month ago. Peeing and pooping in the potty. Now? Pee'ing often and boycotting the potty for pooping. Get this...she's pooped on our floor TWICE!!! I know there are a lot of changes going on right now + she has an ear infection but I swear, this kid is never gonna be potty trained.
Otherwise, she is a silly, smart, fun little girl. I love to watch her pretend and really do just try capturing memories of her. I have to start writing things down since my memory is so holey.
I will go now. Hopefully I will be back. Since I have not update my blog, (I tend to avoid things), I haven't been keeping up with anyone else's either - not even my beloved Cake Wrecks. So if you have one, I'll be visiting shortly.

No one can escape
The Girl was an "easy" baby. No colic, slept through the night pretty early on, I realize that I was lucky.
Luck goes down the tubes once a child hits the 2-2.5 year old mark. Terrible 2s is no lie. The scarey part is I've heard from very reputible mothers that 3 is even worse. They won't even talk about 4.
We're in trouble.
As interesting as it is to see a little personality blossom out of my offspring, the whole developing personality thing takes awhile and they need PLENTY of time to learn that falling down and crying or scream at the top of their lungs is not socially acceptable.
The Girl, my precious, beautiful, funny little angel who I love more then words describe can be very much un-angelic. She has proven to be quite the little perfectionist. If her shoes aren't velcroed just right, if the blanket is laid out just right...oh there will be hell to pay.
She's very independent - quite normal and good for a person. However when it's 7:45am and you were supposed to be out of the house by 7:30am, now is not the time to start putting on your own diaper.
She's a critic. Man oh man, I realize that I would be in the outtake portion of the auditions from American Idol and I never thought for a second that I Think I Can Dance but to have your almost 3 year old yelling "STOP!!!!!!!!! NO DANCING" when I'm trying to shake my groove thing makes me think my dearest is turning into Simon Cowell. What kid doesn't like to sing and/or dance? Oh that's right -my kid. I've been joking that if we went to a Wiggles Live concert (Wiggles is a kids music group that she has recently fallen for) that she would be going up and down the aisles screaming at all the little kids who were having fun and dancing.
So these are only a few gems of raising a little girl. Of course, there are many cutenesses but that's not as fun to talk about, right? I mean when I do something so small and she looks at me and says Thank you Mommy. Well the heart just melts. When she points out EVERY stop sign, stop light and school bus...it's just cute (ok can get annoying but overall cute). I compared a pic from this year to last - wow, she's not even a toddler anymore she is a little girl. Makes me wish I post pics here. Maybe something to reconsider.

Back....again
I went to my first book signing tonight...the creator/writer of the blog CakeWrecks (see my sidebar for the link) published a book and happened to swing by the Barnes and Noble by my work. It was fun but I was extremely, extremely jealous of this woman. This blog is so simple yet so brillant and funny. In just over a year, it has gained so much publicity and so many fans that she not only has a book and a book tour but this is her job now. Her husband's job...working on the blog!
The nice part is that she seemed genuninley nice and thankful for all her success. That made me jealous but very happy for her at the same time.
I went with my Texas transplant friend and former co-worker (she escaped..maybe I will too). She is a faithful reader of mine and was kind enough to compliment my writing but said that I had to work on my editing. It made me laugh and realize that I don't think I've ever explained my writing process here.
I write then I post immediately. I try to then look it over a few times and edit any evident misspellings or horrendous grammatical mistakes. Other then that, I really don't touch a post again. If I was more concerned with grammar/spelling, I would never get anything posted because I would re-write and re-configure and just not get anything accomplished. So I hope it doesn't bother anyone too much. If it does, tell me and maybe I'll try to do a better job.
Anyway, obviously I haven't written much b/c I didn't think I had much all that many stories lately. Besides complaining about a stubborn little almost 3 year old, I was feeling kinda lost. But on my way home, I started thinking (if she can do it, so I can I type of fantasy) and I have plenty more to say.
So here's hoping I stick to my guns!!

Terrible 2's
Her favorite phrase: I do it!
Our favorite phrase: You're in time out because you didn't listen.

Updates
So I've been MIA...again.
Figured I'd get myself rolling with recent happenings in my household.
* The Girl is now in love with Caillou and The Wiggles. Caillou is on as I type. If you haven't seen it, it's about this 4 year old Charlie Brown look-a-like. What really irks me about this cartoon is that the parents NEVER get upset with this kid. I mean he puts rocks in his bed and all he gets is "Oooh Caillou". Poor Girl is gonna think I'm a monster compared to these folks.
* Potty Training Update: she pee'd in the potty. Once. And only a tiny bit. But that's progress for sure. And she giggled when it happened so at least she wasn't freaked out. We went out to Target last night and picked up Big Girl undies. Hoping this will motivate her. Big girl undies mean no more diaper! Unfortunately for me, for the most part, she likes her diapers.
* The Girl is scared of the weirdest things - in particularly escalators and elevators. God help us if we have to go up in an elevator...she grips onto us for dear life...and screams.
* My 2.5 year old is acting like a 12 year old. All last week she said No Mommy! Stop! while I walked her to the daycare provider's door. Like seriously didn't want me to be around here - tantrum the whole nine yards. Embarrassed by Ma already. Thankfully after the long weekend, she's forgotten about it and is now happy to have me tag along.
* The Girl is the temper tantrum queen. People say 3 is worse. Yay.
* Even with her temper, she's still the cutest kid I've ever met. : )
* Her speech is improving a bit. It's just hard to hear kids her age or even younger speaking so well. She's definitely better at making decisions which is great.
I'm sure there's more but it's Supernatural time ; )

Babies, babies everywhere!
Is something in the water? In the air? There is a baby heat wave going on. How many of you are now vowing off those vital necessities of life and how many of you are sucking them in?
No, I have not partook in this magic baby water but I'm feeling the effects. It's making my already confuzzled brain even more fuzzled.
My best pals have officially announced their pregnancy and I am so tremendously excited for them. Even more excited that I was told before the "official" announcement was made. They will make wonderful parents.
Then there's the parenting message board that I frequent. BFP overload there ( Big Fat Positive...as in + pregnancy test). The nice thing with that is that many of those now expecting have been trying for quite some time and have gone through a lot of fertility treatments.
So with seeing a cute little Bean in my friend's ultrasound combined with all the joy of almost daily pregnancy announcements on the Internet, mixed with looking through The Girl's newborn photos and my new favorite girl's name (names have always been a constant for me. I'm always exploring new name options) I'm experiencing something. It's not baby fever...it's baby restlessness?
I don't think I'm allowing myself to get a fever though. Although the timing in terms of age is great in my head, just the rest of reality just wouldn't allow it. But my goodness, I certainly have not been able to get Babies out of my head!
So for those of you how do have the fever and just not my annoying restlessness, I wish you the best of luck in the TTC journey. If it's taking you longer then planned, something I understand, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Sometimes it's long and hard. Often times it feels tremendously unfair. But I send you all my love and dust that things happen for you soon.
